Given that I was not at fault in the incident, and (luckily) I knew who was, there's no reason for my own insurance company to get involved in the claim. After all, I don't need to claim anything on my insurance. I'm letting a company called Bristol & London handle my claim; They take care of recovering my (un-drivable) car to a garage, organising the repairs, deliver me a replacement vehicle, and claim all the expenses from crazy-woman's insurance company. Since my own insurance company has no involvement in the matter it won't count as a "claim", which means they won't jack up my (already ludicrously high) premium when I come to re-new.
Their intent is to fully orchestrate all the co-ordination between insurance companies, repairs garage, etc. but I think that's a bit optimistic. I still had to spend most of the day on the phone in order to iron out all the details, like reporting the accident to my insurance company, opting out of their claims procedure, arranging pick-up of the "broken" car, delivery of the replacement car, going to the council to update my parking permit so that I can legally park the replacement car when it arrives, etc. Fortunately I was already working from home so it was actually feasible to sort all this out; unfortunately all this crap meant that I wasn't able to get much actual work done.
